Albacete opens its feria this Saturday with a major bull release

Albacete’s major bullfighting season begins this Saturday with an evening bull release, followed by two events showcasing some of the sport’s most promising young talents.

Albacete gets its bullfighting feria underway

Albacete begins building towards its major bullfighting feria this Saturday, 5 September. At 9:00 pm, the town’s bullring will host an evening bull release, bringing together local enthusiasts and families eager to see the bulls that will feature in the following days of the feria.

The event will offer spectators the chance to see the animals that will subsequently be fought during the opening stages of the main programme. This year, the line-up includes bulls from Conde de Mayalde and novillos from Montealto and Murteira Grave, scheduled for the events taking place from 8 to 10 September.

Young talent takes centre stage

The evening will continue with a practical bullfighting class featuring Manuel Blasco, Curro de Belén and El More, students from the Albacete Bullfighting School.

The young performers will face novillos from Piedraescrita, giving the emerging generation of bullfighters another opportunity to demonstrate their progress in front of the local public.

On Sunday afternoon, another event dedicated to young talent will take place. It will be a novillada without picadors, featuring animals from Antonio López Gibaja.

The line-up includes Fernando Romero, from the Albacete Bullfighting School; Abel Rodríguez, from the Castellón Bullfighting School; Neyzan Espín and Santi García, both from the Albacete Bullfighting School; Óscar Campos, from the Yiyo Bullfighting School; and José Román, from the Valencia Bullfighting School.

The main programme begins on 8 September

These two events will serve as a prelude to the main programme, which will run from 8 to 17 September at the Albacete bullring.

The feria has generated considerable interest among bullfighting enthusiasts since its programme was unveiled at the Teatro Circo. Once again, the Albacete cycle is set to be one of the highlights of the September bullfighting calendar.

Saturday’s bull release will therefore mark the first major meeting between local enthusiasts and the protagonists of a feria that will once again place Albacete firmly in the spotlight for several days.
