Castella cuts two ears from a lap of honour bull and opens the Puerta Grande at the Albacete Fair
The fourth event of the Virgen de los Llanos Fair offered a vibrant afternoon crowned by the triumph of Sebastián Castella. The French matador delivered a commanding performance with Imperial, a brave bull from Santiago Domecq honoured with a posthumous lap of honour, and left the Albacete bullring on the shoulders of the crowd through the Puerta Grande.
Castella’s triumph and the bravery of Imperial
Castella faced his second bull with composure, settling the charges of an animal that had already shown its quality in the horse. He began the faena in the centre of the ring with back-to-back passes, immediately raising the excitement in the stands. He then linked powerful series with the right hand and brought the work to a thrilling close at close quarters.
A decisive sword thrust sealed a performance of the highest level. The president awarded him two ears, while Imperial was honoured with a lap of honour for his bravery and transmission.

The Sevillian matador displayed depth and class with the third bull, producing a quality faena that earned him one ear. With the sixth, his natural left-hand work reached moments of great finesse, drawing from in front and one by one. However, the sword prevented him from joining Castella in leaving the ring on shoulders.
Perera without options against a lacklustre lot
For Miguel Ángel Perera, the afternoon proved uphill. His first, the second of the corrida, charged without rhythm, while the fifth—an eye-catching white-coated bull that had raised much expectation—lacked the necessary strength to shine. The Extremaduran had to rely on his experience and resources, earning warm ovations in both appearances.
