Nacho Torrejón opens the Puerta Grande in Albacete's second bullfight

The Feria de la Virgen de los Llanos already has its first young bullfighter carried out of the arena on the shoulders of supporters. Nacho Torrejón produced the most complete performance of the second afternoon of the Albacete Fair, earning the first Puerta Grande of the 2026 festival after cutting one ear from each of his young bulls.

The Toledo-born novillero found his best opportunity with the second, a Montealto young bull that displayed bravery, a low head carriage and good qualities for the muleta. Torrejón made the most of its virtues, producing a tasteful performance, particularly with his right hand.

The young bullfighter gave his muleta work depth and composure, building a performance that gradually won over the crowd. He was also accurate with the sword, a decisive factor in turning his performance into a tangible reward.

The second ear came from the fifth. Torrejón once again showed confidence and efficiency in the final stage of the bullfight, finishing his work effectively with the sword. Two ears, one from each young bull, secured his triumphant exit on the shoulders of supporters.

The second and fifth Montealto young bulls were also applauded as they were dragged from the arena, confirming their superior qualities within an uneven string of young bulls.

Álvaro Serrano delivers a significant performance

Álvaro Serrano was another of the afternoon’s standout performers. The young bullfighter from Navas del Rey showed determination throughout the afternoon and was particularly well settled with the first young bull of his lot.

Against the third, he produced several high-quality passages and came close to earning an ear. The crowd’s request was not strong enough for the trophy to be awarded, and Serrano ultimately took a lap of honour.

His performance also involved considerable bravery. With the sixth, Serrano took risks against a young bull that demanded a determined response. Once again, however, his work with the sword worked against him and he finished with silence after a warning.

Osornio faces a difficult lot

Emiliano Osornio opened the afternoon against a first young bull that showed little inclination to fight. Its behaviour restricted the development of the faena and left the Mexican novillero with limited opportunities, although the crowd recognised his willingness with an ovation.

With the fourth, a more disappointing opponent, Osornio produced several muleta passes that offered glimpses of his personal style and approach to bullfighting. Once again, the young bull’s limited qualities prevented the performance from developing further.

The Mexican was accurate with the sword on both occasions, finishing each performance with a clean sword thrust.

Torrejón puts his name first on the Puerta Grande list

The second day of the Feria de la Virgen de los Llanos produced a clear headline: Nacho Torrejón‘s triumph, making him the first bullfighter to open the Puerta Grande during the 2026 Albacete Fair.

Two ears secured a victory built on consistency, a refined bullfighting style and, above all, efficiency with the sword.

Alongside him, Álvaro Serrano delivered one of the afternoon’s most substantial performances, while Emiliano Osornio had to contend with a lot that offered few opportunities for artistic expression.
